An anonymous donor has announced a new donation of as much as $16,000 to San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School to support art and science lessons at the school.

“(The donation is) made recognizing times are hard for a lot of people, but for those who can give, they ought to,” said the anonymous donor, a man, by phone last week. “The overall goal is to encourage people to get involved with the kids in the community.”

The donor will match every dollar, up to $16,000, that other people donate to the school before the end of this school year.

The money is specified for enrichment in the areas of art and science and is similar to a $20,000 donation to the elementary school last year that paid for a math and science teacher.

Last year’s gift was not a matching grant.

Donations can be directed to the Bobcat Club via the school office, 7105 Highway 9, in Felton, or by e-mail at slebobcatclub@gmail.com.
