I am a 56-year-old native of Santa Cruz who moved to Lompico six years ago. I have been quietly watching and reading the issues that arise due to the Lompico Water Co., but can no longer remain silent.
Several months ago, I received a late notice on a bill I had paid, and when I questioned the mistake, I was told by the woman on the phone that it was a mistake on their part and to just ignore the notice. I have an excellent credit rating and did not want to have a mark against my record, but decided to take her word and do nothing.
Yesterday, I received another delinquent notice for a bill I never received, and this time I was told that the bill had been sent out. Was the USPS system at fault? Did thieves steal my water bill and only my water bill?
I have no choice but to pay the bill and late fee (her word against mine).
At the very least, this all seems unprofessional.

This season is a time of mercy and forgiveness. Be gentle & kind with those who really do try to do everything right. Mr. Davis is right - the water district personnal are good people. Some days you are the windshield and some days you are the bug. In our business, people handle things in different ways. Some take a mistake made as a personal insult and turn it into a personal vendetta. The more professional and mature customers/clients recognize the fact that everybody makes mistakes and handle it in a mature way. The screamers are sorry, hateful, mean and think that's the way to get it done. You are a gentleman, so you know what to do. Others (a very well-known few) in the district are mean-spirited and would turn this into a huge controversy. A simple human error.
Here's a heads-up: the bills go out on the ODD-numbered months (JAN, MARCH, MAY, JULY, SEPT, etc. If it's an odd month and you havent received your bill by the 20th, call the office. They will be happy to look up your account for you. Everybody has trouble with the mail this time of year. Mail carriers hire temporaries to get through the seasonal load. It's your responsibility to keep watch.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Latta. I hope this helps resolve your situation.
