EDITOR,

Last week I wrote Supervisor Mark Stone and the Press-Banner questioning why a downed tree on a sunny day left Lompico Road closed from before dawn into the  night, forcing all residents to make the perilous climb up and around narrow, winding Lake Boulevard.

I am pleased to report that, two days later, I received a copy of a letter Stone sent to the director of public works — on the very day of my inquiry — asking him to look into and address the situation. I hope there is effective follow-through.

I am glad to have a local elected official who is so responsive and communicative about the expressed concerns of his constituents. Thank you, Supervisor Stone.

Nothing amazed me more than watching three adult women drive over and around a whipping downed high voltage line, shooting sparks, flaming the roadway asphault, and very obvious smoke, ie fireworks.

All this rather than stopping their frantic journey somewhere, and going around One short block.

Each had kids in the car.

the last one almost ran down the man trying to put safety cones out to prevent someone getting electrocuted, as the breakers had not kicked off.

Let her complain, but she should be glad to be alive, thought inconvenienced.

These three blissfully ignorant drivers escaped darwin, this time.

The road WAS closed for a long time. However, it wasn't just a matter of clearing a downed tree.

The tree also took out power, phone and cable lines. I believe it also took out a power pole. It takes time to shut off the power, clear the tree, and secure all the wires to make it safe to use the road.

In most areas this wouldn't be a problem as there are usually multiple ways to get around problems like these. Unfortunately, we don't have that luxury here in Lompico.
