It’s the end of the league season for the Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley girls volleyball teams, as they both fell Tuesday night in the first round of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League tournament.

San Lorenzo Valley entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and hosted No. 5 seed St. Francis on Nov. 3.

The tightly contested match went five games, but the Cougars could not keep their season alive.

After St. Francis won the first game 25-18, the Cougars stormed back, taking the second and third games 25-22 and 25-23. However, they could not hold off the Sharks, who rolled in the final two games, 25-15 and 15-11.

SLV star Sierra Clark led the way with 29 kills and 14 digs for the Cougars, who still have hope for an at-large berth into the Central Coast Section playoffs.

The Cougars finished 7-7 in the SCCAL and 7-10 overall.

Scotts Valley completed its league season with a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Aptos High. The Falcons finished 0-14 in the SCCAL, 1-16 overall.
