Monet Salon and Spa will sponsor a Spa Day for four breast cancer survivors. Residents are invited to write an essay to nominate a breast cancer survivor to receive a facial massage, manicure, pedicure, hairstyling and makeup.

Essays, due Tuesday, Oct. 27, should tell the survivor’s story. Four winners will be chosen from among the entries. The spa day will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 8.

Wells Fargo donates $4,000 to schools

Wells Fargo bank presented $1,000 each to four valley schools to help offset budget shortfalls during challenging economic times.

San Lorenzo Valley Elementary, Brook Knoll Elementary, Scotts Valley Middle and Scotts Valley High schools each received a check for $1,000 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at a presentation in Watsonville.

Pizza, ice cream for Scotts Valley schools

The Scotts Valley High Parent Club will host an SVHS pizza and ice cream night on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Round Table Pizza and Baskin-Robbins on Mt. Hermon Road in Scotts Valley.

The businesses will donate 20 percent of all purchases to the high school, excluding sales that involve coupons or home delivery. Participants are invited to attend in Halloween costumes for prizes, and entertainment is planned.

The fundraiser will run from 5 to 9 p.m. at Round Table Pizza and from 6 to 10 p.m. at Baskin-Robbins.
