Hundreds of “Dooners” came together for a “thank you, firefighters” potluck party at Bonny Doon Elementary School last weekend.

People from the community spoke, thanking Cal Fire and local volunteers for the protection and support they provided during the Lockheed Fire, which burned more than 7,800 acres in mid-August. No homes in Bonny Doon were destroyed.

The Bonny Doon Fire and Rescue Team is also looking for a few more volunteers from the community.

"that is what LAFCo has done, thwart the democratic election process" WRONG. LAFCO is just realistic. Steve you say it's possible to fund a dept. with the money all ready coming in. Did you take into consideration that the stations and all the equipment, apperatus, are county owned. not bonny doon owned. besides E-3210, bonny doon would have to litterally start a fire dept from the ground. they don't own anything and that would take a lot of money. forming your own district does not improve structural, and medical/accident response. Where do you think State Fire Marshal's certs come from. i'll give you a hint, The State! Cal Fire is More than qualified for every part of the fire service. the more you rant a rave about BD fire the more lame you're going to look when you're dream of a seperate district finally goes up in flames. rest assured, cal fire will be there to put it out!!

Bonny Doon should have a right to vote on forming a fire district. Anything else is undemocratic, and that is what LAFCo has done, thwart the democratic election process.

This is not about a choice between Cal Fire OR Bonny Doon Fire. Even when Bonny Doon forms a fire district for improved structure protection and medical/accident response, Cal Fire will still have to respond to wild land fires, and Cal Fire will still want to build its own station in Bonny Doon.

Mr. "Dick", why do you not use your real name?

and the best at not showing up to calls even after a 2nd page. Steve Homan you have extremly low expectaions for firefighterS considering how stoked you are on thier performance as a fire team. I hope you get the chance to thank a cal fire engine company. they're the ones putting in the work. please do us all a huge favor and wake the hell up! oh, and try not to spend that 10k on sueing LAFCO.
