“Lockheed Martin is grateful to these local volunteers and the firefighters who came from throughout California and other states to mount a heroic effort that saved lives, homes and industrial facilities,” said S. K. Gupta, Lockheed Martin’s vice president of operations, who presented the check today, September 8. “As a member of this community, we appreciate the emergency response services Bonny Doon Volunteer Fire and Rescue provides every day of the year.”
Along with Cal Fire, crews from Bonny Doon were among the first on the scene when the Lockheed Fire broke out on August 12. The volunteer team donated approximately 1,100 hours to fighting the blaze that took 11 days to fully contain.
The Lockheed Martin Facility in Bonny Doon was threatened by the fire which burned more than 7,800 acres including 1,800 acres of unimproved land on the Lockheed Martin campus.
Bonny Doon board members Glen Haimovitz and Rebecca Stoller attended today's luncheon ont eh Lockheed Martin campus to accept the check for $10,000 from the aerospace company.
“It was just an open thank you acknowledging the fact that we helped them out,” Haimovitz said.

I do not appreciate asinine comments like the one by "The Dick on Vick." What he says is untrue and makes no sense. The Bonny Doon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Board is responsible and thoughtful, and it does not take legal matters lightly. Further, the Fire Team volunteers EARN most of the budget by work at fund raising events.
Mr. Dick, please think before you speak.
Bonny Doon Fire has been able to deliver upgraded service for decades because of the support of the people and organizations in our community.
Years ago Lockheed donated a vehicle that was built into the first “quick response” truck by Bonny Doon volunteers. For many years it was donated turnout gear (fire clothing) from Lockheed and others that protected the volunteers on fire calls. When Lockheed had its own fire department on site, they responded to mutual calls from Bonny Doon. We have always been able to count on support from Lockheed Martin.
Lockheed Martin, thank you for recognizing the Bonny Doon Fire volunteers.
