Club One’s Scotts Valley Tsunami swam against and defeated the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz this past week. The Tsunami first-place finishers included: Aria Leonard, 15; Jacob Chaffin, 14; Allysha Leonard, 11; Jack Palmer, 11; Ian Bast, 10; Lauren Emanuelson, 10; Kim Ladd, 10; Phoebe Codiga, 8; Luke Streller, 8; Ian Bast, 10; Lauren Emanuelson 10; Kim Joelle Andrews, 6; and Michael Arcangeli, 6. The team started its first fall program Monday, Aug. 31.
SLV looks for JV soccer coach

Celebratory Steelheads barbecue
The Brookdale Inn & Spa is hosing a celebratory barbecue open to the public in honor of the Steelheads, the San Lorenzo Valley IOOF softball team it sponsors. Since Brookdale began sponsoring the team, the Steelheads have won the A-League Championship three times in a row. The team recently completed the summer league with a championship win. The barbecue is Sunday, Sept. 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the inn at 11570 Highway 9, in Brookdale. A portion of the proceeds from the food and beverages purchased will benefit the team.
