For the second time in just over a month, a car hit a fire hydrant on Mt. Hermon Road today.

This time, a car hit a fire hydrant on the corner of Mt. Hermon and Kings Village roads during afternoon traffic.

The accident wasn't as spectacular as the one a block north on July 16, when a Chevrolet Blazer jumped a curb, knocked down a telephone pole and severed a fire hydrant, causing a 30-foot geyser to rise up.

To the first comment from sjski-I highly doubt the person who went around you will bother to ever read this site. But I will agree that there are so many bad drivers out there. People who just in general do not pay attention to the signs or anything. At the same time, you have the entitled Scotts Valley brats (and yes, they are brats) who turn where they want, cut off who they want, and basically have no regard or respect for anyone else on the road. 90% of the time there is some kind of close call when I am in Scotts Valley, it is some punk little kid in his Cadillac Escalade who turns without looking to see if anyone is coming because I am sure in his mind he is "King of the Road".

I am apalled at how many DUMB drivers don't know how to yield when egressing and ingressing the various strip mall intersections along Mt. Hermon Rd. Why doesn't the SVPD spend more time ticketing these incompetent drivers who don't know what they are doing? That is to say: they FAIL to yield when making a left turn. SO MANY close calls! I'm REALLY surprised nobody has been seriously hurt. Those types of infractions the police NEVER spend enough time on enforcing (in my opinion)

To the stupid driver who decided they were too cool to wait at the light while I made a left turn onto Mt. Hermon, by you going around me and another car to make the left turn lane, I hope you know that you almost hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk. There is a reason that I was not making the left turn! You decided to drive into the oncoming traffic lane in order to get around me and another car waiting. You almost caused another accident right in front of this accident. People, please PAY ATTENTION to your surroundings when you drive! If someone isn't going, there is likely a good reason for it. 5 seconds is not worth the risk of injuring someone...or worse.
