A motor home parked behind the Scotts Valley Diner on Scotts Valley Drive burst into flames at noon Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Mary Kline, a Bethany University employee, reported the fire soon after it started.

“I saw smoke coming up, and I thought someone was welding or something,” Kline said. “I looked around and there was no one around there, so I called 9-1-1.”

A crew from the Scotts Valley Fire Protection District quickly arrived at the scene and put out the fire as onlookers dining at next-door Café Carlos watched.

I'm pretty sure the guy that bought the diner from the lady who owned Denny's prior was living in it illegally.
