Several-hundred Confederate and Union soldiers in full uniform will revisit famous Civil War battles while camping out on Roaring Camp’s grounds in the days leading up to Memorial Day.
Members of the American Civil War Association will camp, cook, work and play as part of the living history demonstration, which is open to the public during non-battle times from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Train rides up Bear Mountain are also available.
“The thing I find most endearing is the Memorial Day morning ceremony dedicated to the fallen soldiers,” Roaring Camp CEO Georgiana Clark said. “It’s quite a moving ceremony. It’s very American.”
Battles will begin at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, and at 2:24 p.m. Monday, May 25. The Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
