Valley Gardens Golf Course to hold summer leagues


The Valley Gardens Golf Course recently announced that it would be accepting applications from local teams to participate in its Summer Golf League.

The league play is scheduled to begin in August and run through September. According to a press released, teams can have between 4 and 8 players.

Depending on interest, the league matches will be held on Sundays at 4 p.m. or Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.

Bonny Doon artists set to host studio tour


Twenty-nine Bonny Doon artists will be displaying their works at 19 different location throughout Bonny Doon the weekend of July 26 and 27 for the third annual Bonny Doon Studio Tour.

Between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., Bonny Doon painters, sculptors, ceramic artists, printmakers, woodcarvers and glass artists will welcome guests into their studios.

Many artists will also be demonstrating their processes.

Admission to all studios is free.

Photo studio to host Pet Portrait Fundraiser


Scotts Valley photography studio Jesse Gabriel Photography announced that it will host a fundraiser event to support the programs of the Santa Cruz SPCA.

Between Tuesday, July 15 and Saturday, July 19, customers who donate any 30- to 40-pound bag of dog or cat food, make a cash donations of $30 to the SPCA will receive a free pet portrait session, as well as a $30 studio credit.
