Roberta “Lorrayne” Lane

Services will be held Saturday for Ben Lomond resident Roberta “Lorrayne” Lane who died suddenly this month. She was 83.
Mrs. Lane was born and raised in Santa Cruz and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1948. She was a member of Theta Rho and Isabella Rebekah Lodge #17 Santa Cruz.
During her lifetime Mrs. Lane worked at several Santa Cruz area businesses including Horsnyder’s and Woolworth’s soda fountains, Ingall’s and Stokley Canneries, Sylvania Electronics, Watkins-Johnson in Scotts Valley, Felton Storage and Econo Lodge in Ben Lomond. In recent years she served on the SLV Senior Center board and hostess for the monthly breakfasts.
She and her husband Albert loved to vacation in Molokai, Hawaii. In 1994 they moved to Molokai where they lived for more than two years.
Mrs. Lane is survived by her children Sharon Burgess of Ben Lomond, Buzz Lane and his wife Kim of Orangevale, Karen Lane of Boulder Creek, and Steve Lane and his wife Deborah of Ben Lomond; four grandchildren; eight great-grandsons; sister Frances Day; and twin brother Wayne Thornton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert “Al” Lane, brother Jim Merlin Thornton and sister Ruby Carter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Mausoleum, 1927 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz.
