On Tuesday evening, the Scotts Valley Unified School District board of trustees will choose a new person to fill a vacancy on the 5-member board.
The board will hold a special public meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the district office, 4444 Scotts Valley Drive, Ste. 5B to appoint the newest board member.
Former board member Debbie Johnson resigned in April citing health reasons. She had been appointed in-lieu of election on Dec. 5, 2012.
Four school district residents applied for Johnson’s open seat. They are George Leonard, Gary Fish Redenbacher, Gia Schwarzer and Kim Schultz. Each submitted the application before the April 30 deadline. To read their applications, visit the board agenda for the May 7 meeting.
There will be a time for public comment before at the start of the meeting. The candidates will each be interviewed by the board before it makes its selection. The person to fill Johnson’s seat will serve until the next general election in November 2014.
