Felton residents Pat and Bob Namba celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday, March 20. The couple was married March 20, 1963.
Pat was attending nursing school in 1959 when she met Bob, the brother of her roommate, May. Bob was beginning his career as a policeman and attending San Jose State in the evening.
The couple was married in Sparks, Nev., and following the ceremony were entertained at the Nugget Casino by Tony Bennett and the casino’s star attraction, Bertha the Elephant.
They lived in San Jose for 10 years and began a family there, but outgrew the home with the birth of their third child and moved to Felton.
Bob endured the commute to San Jose until his retirement from the San Jose Police Department in 1990. Pat provided day care for many families until her retirement in 1995.
Pat and Bob moved his mother, Kay, who is now 97, into their home on her 90th birthday.
Bob plays golf regularly, and the couple enjoy attending community theater productions, are avid readers, and actively follow the San Francisco Giants.
Bob and Pat have three children, Kim Namba, David Namba and Robert Namba; five grandchildren; and a sixth grandchild is due this summer. The couple will celebrate the occasion during a seaside vacation with their children and families in Pacific Grove.
