Last week, I attended a forum for candidates for the board of the Lompico Water District. Only one of the three challengers attended. The challengers who opted out had “scheduling conflicts.” The challenger who did show up reiterated various myths and falsehoods with a short fuse.
The next day, Lompico households received a campaign mailer, a rancorous collection of accusations and fabrications which clearly indicate the candidate’s lack of knowledge about and understanding of the workings of either a special district or a water system. I want my elected representatives to do their homework and understand the facts of the matter. Facts are: that the district’s needs and expenses outpace its income, that the district really is and has been short on water, and that the district cannot fix its problems without a merger or a bond or astronomically raising rates.
I want my elected representatives to focus on providing constituents with clean, safe, affordable and sufficient water, without drama.
We have competent, experienced, dedicated incumbents asking us to re-elect them to the board to continue the hard work they’ve begun and to bring to us the final decision on a merger. The choice is very clear: I’m voting for Bill Smallman, Rick Harrington and Lois Henry. Please join me.

Back when all the Lake Blvd water main hullaballo was going on, Director Henry stated at a board meeting that nothing would be done with the project until the FEMA money was "in the bank". Director Smallman re-iterated this in a post here on October 26, 2010:
“We agreed to do this repair if no cost was accrued by the District.”
however, instead, a loan was taken out from SLV to pay for the project while they were waiting for the FEMA funds.
You can't trust a thing they promise.

You are confusing the vote for the MERGE, with a bond vote, and LAFCO very well can force a merge, but their current position is that they won't.
The only thing the incumbents are good at is talking out both sides of their mouths.
Lompican's are not the sharpest pencils in the pile. Each election we get complete fools who run for office (with the exception of Duane Davis), and after they are elected they do not do their jobs. For instance, I'm fed up with Director Gott, who doesn't even bother to read is Board Agenda packet before attending each monthly water board meeting.
Vote for the incumbents. They are dolts. There is no doubt about it, but they will force a merger, and we will not have to deal with the incompetency of board members and their stupidity any longer. We will increase the gene pool from which we select our candidates for SLVWD, and this includes professional staff on board, unlike that of LCWD.
As for the challengers, Duane is a very smart guy, but will not be able to do things on his own. The other two ladies running didn’t even bother respecting the community and attending the debate hosted by the League of Women Voters. None of them will get my vote.
Better yet, move to Lower Lake Blvd, can it be annexed?
It's people like you that make others want to fight, and I say FIGHT for out water rights. Duane is the best candidate, I'll agree with that, so VOTE FOR DUANE!
Well, then, how about vote for the new board instead? The smart one. The one that includes Duane Davis.
Then pull it together and get the district up to par. No need for a merger with a proven problematic district like SLVWD.
