Company gives $100K to art center

International communications company Plantronics gave a $100,000 gift to help with the building of a performing arts theater and plaza at the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz. The lobby of the theater will be named in honor of Plantronics as recognition for the gift.

The nonprofit Tannery Arts Center Inc. has spearheaded a capital campaign to complete the 8.3-acre arts center complex that includes live-work artist lofts, working studios, a digital media center, office suites and a café. The theater and a sculpture plaza will complete the project.

Funding for the 200-seat theater and plaza is being raised by the community. The theater will be housed in a renovated historical warehouse on the Tannery Arts Center property.
