A 16-year-old boy was arrested on charges of felony driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing a sports car on East Zayante Road in Felton early Saturday morning.
The boy, a Ben Lomond resident, was traveling with another 16-year-old boy from Felton from one house to another when he crashed a white 2003 Ford Mustang at the corner of East and West Zayante Roads at 1:31 a.m. Aug. 25. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene and called an ambulance. Both boys were treated on scene with injuries. The passenger, who had visible injuries, was released to the driver’s mother, while the driver was booked into juvenile hall.
The driver’s exact blood alcohol content could not be released, but CHP Officer Sarah Jackson said it was “much higher than 0.08.”
The Mustang received major damage, according to CHP. Both boys were wearing seatbelts.
“Speed may also have been a factor (in the collision),”Jacksonsaid.
The driver is charged with a felony DUI because the accident caused an injury to the passenger.
The legal drinking age in California is 21.

This kid needs to learn a lesson. I hope the judge comes down hard on him. I have a 16 year old and no way would he be allowed to be out that late. I make it my business to know where he is at all times.
Thank goodness no one was hurt worse. A drunk 16 year old behind the wheel is unacceptable. We have to keep our roads safe for all.
Troubling story to say the least.
The parents were sleeping.
A know a young girl who snuck out in the middle of the night and was killed. The parents were sleeping.
What about a house alarm system that was set so that it would go off in the middle of the night if someone opened a door or window?
The only way to stop a teenager from doing what they want to do would be to drug them or physically restrain them which is just as bad, if not worse, than lying, stealing and cheating.
