UPDATE:Debra Collins was found in Fall Creek on Dec. 4 by two hikers. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for hypothermia and frostbite.

A 58-year-old Felton woman has been missing since Friday, Nov. 24 and Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies seek help from the community to locate her.

Debra Collins was reported missing from her home on Hihn Street on Nov. 30 by a friend who last communicated with her on Nov. 24.

A sheriff’s investigation found that Collins left her home on, or about Nov. 24. She left without her pet cat, personal belongings including purse and wallet and her vehicle.

She is described as Caucasian, 5-feet, 5-inches tall and 123 pounds. She has gray-brown shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. It is unknown what clothing she was wearing.

Sheriff's deputies say no foul play is suspected because of the state of the house and contact with friends and neighbors.

Anyone with information regarding Collins’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, Investigations Division at 454-2311 or through Sheriff’s dispatch at 471-1121.

I am thankful that we have great people living in our community who went out and searched for the missing woman. I am even more thankful that she was found alive.

Black hole sidetracks news, and sometimes it arrives a week, or more later in PB. Sometimes it never lands here.
