The 10-and-under Mountain Dream softball team took second in the Santa Cruz Blast by the Bay Tournament Gold Bracket.

In seed play, the Dream outscored the Scotts Valley Trouble 5-3, including a two run double by Alona Vincent that brought home Bella Baxter and Emily Staats. In the final inning, Camryn Hipwell caught a fly ball with the help of her cleats, and the Dream defense finished the Trouble.

Pitchers Madison Reger and Larkin Warneke shut out the Branham Hills Thunder in a 5-0 win to earn the top seed. In Sunday morning bracket play, the Dream faced a rematch with the Thunder, taking a lead 2-0 lead in the first inning with two RBIs from Baxter. The Thunder scored three runs in the third, but Reger hit a 2-run homer for a 4-3 win.

In the championship game against the Cabrillo Crushers, the Crushers scored two runs in the first, but Dreamer Ryan Hanning tied it up by driving in Taylor Still and Jalie Edgemon. The Crushers went on to score eight more runs, making it 10-2.

In the bottom of the final inning, the Dreamers rallied with an RBI by Camile Walkuski and grand slam by Reger, scoring Edgemon, Hanning, and Azalea Groleau. However, the rally ended, and the Dream fell 10-7.
