Agriculture value increases by $33M in county

A crop report released last week valued the gross production of Santa Cruz County’s agricultural commodities at $565.7 million in 2011.

That total, released by the county agriculture commissioner, represents an increase of more than $33 million from the 2010 production value. The gross total does not include production costs.

The highest-valued crop in Santa Cruz County remains strawberries, with raspberries the second highest. Cut flowers, vegetables and blackberries are also high-value crops.
