Letter: Party change an obvious ploy

EDITOR,

You’re kidding me, Bruce McPherson. Moving to “decline to state” as a voter? Republicans should be offended. This is the party that supported you in the Assembly, the state Senate, even as California Secretary of State. Now you turn your back on them so you can run for local office? Really?

Democrats should also be offended at this obvious political ploy to hide your conservative side. It isn’t your party registration, it’s your voting record that really matters.

Even independents should be offended. They eschew the parties because of the dysfunction in the state carved by party polarization. You are still a party person, though. Why else would you have helped Sam Blakeslee against our own John Laird two years ago? You didn’t need to be a part of that nasty, negative campaign, but you were. Why else did you endorse Byrl Smith in Monterey County against Jane Parker? Because he is so qualified? Clearly not. That was only a month ago. Yet you want us to believe this political move was not about election in November. We know better. Shame on you, Bruce.

Peggy Mora, Scotts Valley

Wondering. Why are so many people so concerned about Eric Hammer getting elected?

My experience is that he speaks poorly about the people who disagree with him.

Pure speculation on a few noisy detractors. Hammer was on a Board that made a decision to submit for a grant that (if won) would have improved the Boulder Creek Rec and Parks District- would have given them their own facility and improved the facilities of the fire station there.

His mother has supported Mountain Community Resources and local issues for many years. in this valley, visibility means criticism. a few loud mouths trying to cloud the real issues: who is best suited to help us improve our district, which consists mainly of the SLV. Unfortunately most of the population is in the city of Santa Cruz... so us mountain dwellers get stuck on the raw end of the stick. Hammer can change that!

It is contrary to the expressions of Ms. Moran to not engage into negative politics, when in fact what she writes is the fuel. Choosing a political party or not, and voting for what you decide on is what needs to so importantly preserved, and what makes the U.S.A. the best. I encourage others to register as a "decline to state", it is a fast growing voter registrar, and will "throw a monkey wrench" into "politics as usual" with increased support. I have the utmost respect for my fellow candidates, and spent a long time thinking who I wanted to vote for, so do not appreciate someone criticizing me in any fashion. Doing so shows me lack of character and any conviction and ability to engage is intelligent conversation of the important issues that we face.
yeah right.....

Small Man, you're a traitor to the SLV and you should shut your pie hole.

What a hate-filled, vitriolic letter from Eric Hammer's campaign committee member Peggy Moran.

Terrible. Just terrible.

Stanley, I think Ms Mora is a Republican, offended that McPherson skipped out on his loyalty to the party for personal gain. Didn't see anything written here that indicated or justified your response, where you over exaggerate what she said. Typical Hammer hater you must be...can't play fair, can you?

Bill, you missed the point. Mora isn't the fuel, McPherson's prior actions are, she's just reiterating his record. People keep shoving that record of his under the carpet- that's the REAL crime. Too bad you chose to support Mcpherson instead of a true local who has yours (and our) best interests in mind, instead of a rich guy who lives in a gated community and is out of touch with local issues. You should know, being part of the water issues in Felton....shame on You!

Ms Mora is a Hammer fan. She appears to be on his campaign committee. So, no. Her vitriol does not register as defense of the Republican party, rather as rabid fangirl to Eric Hammer with distinct inability to express herself in a thoughtful, nuanced manner.
