Doss, the top-ranked player in the world, has never won the Memorial Cup at his home course, but his second-place finish netted him $1,237.
Doss finished 18 under par for the tournament. Winner GreGory Barsby of Grass Valley scored five aces in the final round to finish 24 under par and was awarded $1,689.
Scotts Valley High School teacher Jamie Tuckey finished tied for 17th at 1 under par over the three-day tournament. Tuckey went home with $339 after improving each day of the three-day event, shooting 85, 84 and 82.
Brookdale’s Don Smith finished 57th at 14 over par, and Scotts Valley’s Tim Messer finished 66th at 28 over par after shooting a rough 103 in the final round.
In the master division, Scotts Valley’s Jon Baldwin led after the first round but wound up fourth, shooting a three-day total of 3 under par, six shots behind the leader. Baldwin, who finished 10th in the open division in the 2008 tournament, took home $387.
Scotts Valley’s Jim Hagen finished tied for 11th at 12 over par and took home $140, while Jack Trageser finished at 14 over par for 14th place and $123.
The Memorial Cup is an event on the Professional Disc Golf Association Tour. The tour hosts tournaments around the nation.
