The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man in his 30s who reportedly tried to assault a 16-year-old girl in downtown Boulder Creek on Sunday, Aug. 26.

Deputies are looking for a white male who is about 6-feet tall, thin, and with light brown or blond hair with scruff along the jaw line and a goatee. He had a bump on his nose. He was wearing blue jeans and a white tank top.

The incident took place at 11 p.m. Sunday on the 12000 block of Highway 9 when the 16-year-old girl was attacked by the man shortly after she got off a bus. The man reportedly tried to grab the girl from behind and grasped her hair. She screamed and he fled in a white Toyota truck.

The girl told her father what happened and he went to the area where he saw a similar truck, but was unable to make contact. The father described the truck to the investigating sheriff’s as a white 1993 or 1994 Toyota pickup truck single cab 4x4 that was slightly lifted with newer tires. The truck was missing a tailgate.

Those with information, about this case, or other similar events may contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office at 471-1121.

Terrible, but my question is, why was a 16 year old girl allowed to be out so late at night alone? You just can't be too careful these days!
