Children’s store celebrates grand opening
A store selling new and used children’s clothing, books, toys and other goods will host a grand opening in Boulder Creek this week.
After a soft opening in October, the official opening of Sweet Child O’ Mine is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the store’s downtown Boulder Creek location, 13124 Highway 9.
Co-owners Christy and Ben Unger and Zephyr Pfotenhauer have plans to offer community events and services, including daily story times. Free and low-cost classes in sign language, Spanish and environmental education may follow.
"For such a small town, Boulder Creek offers its residents a great variety of services, stores and products," Pfotenhauer said in a statement. "We created Sweet Child O’ Mine to be a safe and fun space specifically for children and their families to gather, shop, share stories and meet with friends.”
During the Sunday open house, coffee, tea and hors d’oeuvres will be provided from Jenna Sue’s Café.
A percentage of the day’s proceeds will be given to the science program at Boulder Creek Elementary School.
