According to Tim Welch, the interim director of KBCZ, the station’s management hopes for a window studio on Highway 9 in downtown Boulder Creek that is easy for the public to access. The station has offered rent combined with sponsorship opportunities to a business that will rent them a space.
Fundraising has begun for the non-profit station. The station has already met a $1,500 fundraising goal, but as a non-commercial station continues to seek support.
Donations can be sent to the station via www.gofundme.com.
Additionally, the station is selling t-shirts which can be purchased for $20 to support the station. For a t-shirt, email Welch at email@example.com.
The station announced a new website, www.kbcz.org, where information on local traffic and the weather for the SLV area will be readily available is in the works. They hope to set up an RSS feed on the site that will provide weather and traffic info. They also hope to provide a streaming broadcast online and on mobile devices in the future.
The station is on the air, but there is not yet actual content. Licensing for the station is still underway and Welch expects it to be complete in the next several months.
The station plans to first broadcast recorded content in early 2014 and will entertain with live shows in primetime slots through the first half of the year.
However, the official kickoff for the station will not be until July 2014.
There are still volunteer positions available for those interested in helping. The station seeks local people to help with operations, engineering, community and school outreach, fundraising, and facilities.
Donations such as FM equipment, CDs, records, CD players, furniture, lights, computers, space heaters, AC units, storage cabinets, and office supplies are also being accepted.
