Vietnam War veteran Ed Butler, Ben Lomond's former fire chief, took advantage of the holiday by attending Veterans Day ceremonies in Santa Cruz today.

Then he took his grandchildren to a soccer game in Scotts Valley.

Duquan Ruff, on the right, played in the game at the Scotts Valley soccer complex, and his sister Jaden, center, tagged along.

Quick correction on this article: Ed Butler is CURRENT Battalion Chief. He is still serving on the Ben Lomond Fire Department.
